I didn't shake off my stone for nothing! The world of Disney Lorcana is bursting with new content, and it's time to dive deep into the upcoming sets and reveals. While we were still reeling from the Fabled release, Ravensburger has dropped a treasure trove of information regarding the rest of 2025 and even a glimpse into 2026. Get ready for murder mystery vibes, brand new keywords, the introduction of Gargoyles, and the arrival of Pixar characters! A special edition of the Lorecast has given us a sneak peek at both Disney Lorcana Whispers in the Well and the first booster set of 2026, Winterspell. Buckle up, because there's a lot to unpack in this disney lorcana news blast!
Lorcana Whispers in Well: Unraveling the Mystery
Let's start with what's just around the corner: Lorcana Whispers in Well, releasing soon. This set plunges us into a mystery at the foundations of the Great Illuminary, where partially formed Whispers are stranded. Officer Nick Wilde and Judy Hopps are on the case, investigating the torn pages that hold the key. The whispers in well cards are a new card type, easily identified by their parchment theme and the 'Whisper' card type. They also feature the Boost keyword, encouraging players to funnel additional cards underneath them to complete their Glimmer forms. Gaston - Frightful Bully is a standout card, hindering opponents from challenging while also setting them up for challenges on your turn. Megara - Secret Keeper, Simba - King in the Making, and Robin Hood - Ephemeral Archer also hint at a toolbox of options for this new character type.
Beyond the standard whispers in well cards, the Iconic rares are grabbing everyone's attention. Ariel - Ethereal Voice, in particular, is poised to be a chase card. A cheap boost cost, repeatable card advantage in a song-heavy ink, and the desirability of a Disney Princess variant will make this a highly sought-after card. Hades - Looking for a Deal continues the trend of thematic and strategically annoying characters, potentially pairing well with Clarabelle - Light on Her Hooves.
Daisy Duck - Paranormal Investigator is a game-changer. This legendary card forces opponents to play off-curve by delaying their ink usage while she's exerted. This 4/6 character with Shift could open up new strategies for Amber Sapphire decks. There is also a beautiful full art version of Daisy Duck that will feature as the Lorcana set championship promo card this season. This promo should give players another incentive to compete at local tournaments. Another legendary arriving with the set is Demona - Scourge of the Wyvern Clan. This card gives us our first taste of lorcana gargoyles set, with her ability to be “Stone by Day.” This card's unique design makes her an exciting addition to the game, and a frontrunner for many players' favorite card in the set.
And, of course, there’s The Black Cauldron itself! This item allows you to funnel characters from your discard pile back into play, offering potentially infinite card drawing or lore generation. However, it is resource-intensive and slow, making it more suitable for slower, more controlling strategies within the lorcana meta game. Despite its potential downsides, I'll be experimenting with this one for sure!
New Lorcana Promo Cards
Several lorcana promo cards were also revealed: Scar - Eerily Prepared (Buy-a-Box Promo), Elsa - Exploring the Unknown (In-Store Promo), The Great Illuminary - Abandoned Laboratory (Weekly Play Promo), Zeus - Missing His Spark (Weekly Play Promo), and Jasmine - Soothing Princess (Ravensburger Event Promo). Of these, the lorcana scar promo and lorcana illuminary card stand out for their potential impact. Scar offers repeatable character shrinking, while The Great Illuminary is a cheap location that turns characters into makeshift Dumbo - Ninth Wonder of the Universe, threatening significant lorcana card advantage. The frosted treatment on these cards makes them highly desirable for collectors and players alike.
Lorcana Winterspell Set: A Chilling Adventure
Looking ahead, Lorcana Winterspell Set kicks off 2026 with a snowy adventure, releasing on February 13th at local game stores and February 20th worldwide. This set will introduce Angel from Lilo and Stitch to the game. Angel - Siren Singer aims to address the play-draw disparity by providing a powerful song effect if you're going second. Stitch - Carefree Snowboarder, a homage to Stitch - Carefree Surfer, offers card draw if you control multiple characters. In addition, Darkwing Duck and Launchpad will also enter the fray with darkwing duck lorcana and launchpad lorcana card. Darkwing Duck allows you to recycle items and cheat them into play, while Launchpad provides card advantage with Darkwing Duck in play. A 3-cost Darkwing Duck could unlock a ton of potential for this combo.
Lorcana Wilds Unknown: Pixar Arrives!
The name for the second set of 2026 has been revealed: Lorcana Wilds Unknown, releasing in Q2 2026. This set will revolve around brave glimmers traversing treacherous terrain to make it back home. This theme is reminiscent of the story told in Toy Story 2: Buzz Lightyear to the Rescue. The lorcana toy story set is highly anticipated, and with buzz and woody lorcana joining the game, this set is expected to be a major hit.
Lorcana Turning Red: A Big Deal in Q3 2026
A teaser for Q3 2026 features Meilin "Lei" Lee from Turning Red, hinting at a lorcana turning red set. The Pixar revolution has clearly only just begun! This will be the third set of lorcana 2026 release.
