The dust has settled, and the verdict is in: Justice Hunters has arrived, poised to redefine the metagame impact we've come to expect! Many are claiming it's ready to eclipse even the mighty Crossover Breakers. With three distinct and powerful top-tier decks emerging, the Justice Hunters set is proving to be a treasure trove for players and collectors alike. This time around, it truly feels like every card is a potential game-changer, from the coveted ultra rare cards to the strategically vital card reprints. The buzz is palpable, and early openings are leaving players thrilled, a win-win scenario that fuels excitement and keeps the packs flying off the shelves.
So, what are the cards that have everyone buzzing? The short answer: all the ultra rare cards! Each one offers unique strengths and strategic advantages, making them highly desirable additions to any player's arsenal. Recent OTS Championships and European Regional Qualifiers have provided a glimpse into the future of competitive play, highlighting the cards that are already making a significant impact. Let's dive into the top contenders.
While K9-00 Lupis might be the "weakest" of the ultra rare cards in terms of pure market value, it's undeniably one of the most sought-after pieces in the Justice Hunters set. If you’re unfamiliar with the K9 strategy, it revolves around Level 5 monsters that unleash a rapid-fire barrage of xyz summon opportunities. These monsters can special summon themselves with ease, and Lupis takes it a step further by allowing summons from the graveyard! The real power of K9-00 Lupis lies in its ability to facilitate xyz summon plays during your opponent's turn, granting you a significant advantage. Furthermore, the summoned monster gains untargetability while Lupis remains attached as a material. Imagine dropping powerful Rank 5 Xyz Monsters like K9-17 "Ripper", N.As.H. Knight, or even the formidable Super Starslayer TY-PHON - Sky Crisis! As a crucial one-of, Lupis is a must-have for any deck utilizing the k9 strategy.
Dracotail remains the most unexplored archetype within the JUSH archetype review, yet it arguably boasts the greatest potential for creative deck building. This fusion summon-focused strategy is built upon self-replacing effects and remarkable utility. Dracotail Arthalion sits at the heart of this strategy, capable of returning monsters from either the field or graveyard to their owner's hand, with the number of monsters returned determined by the number of monsters used from your hand during the fusion summon (a minimum of one). Boasting a formidable 3000 attack points, Arthalion can also special summon itself from the graveyard if two monsters are simultaneously sent to either graveyard. This card offers a unique and highly customizable experience, inviting players to experiment and discover its full potential.
The first of the main deck ultra rare cards for Dracotail, Dracotail Mululu is exceptionally potent due to its dragon typing combined with a quick effect that enables the fusion summon of Dracotail monsters. This quick effect synergy amplifies the power of Hieratic Seal of the Heavenly Spheres, transforming an already powerful Link Monster into an even more disruptive force. Furthermore, Mululu possesses the common Dracotail effect: when sent to the graveyard as a fusion material, it allows you to set a Dracotail Spell or Trap card directly from your deck. Beyond that, Mululu provides an extra layer of control by negating a monster's effect permanently without targeting! Forcing your opponent to activate effects at inopportune moments can easily swing games in your favor.
LollipoYummy Yummy is currently the most popular of the three new archetypes, claiming a dominant six out of the top eight spots at a recent regional event. Reminiscent of Spright, the yummy archetype packs immense utility and flexibility within a concise engine. Each Yummy monster boasts an effect upon being summoned, which can be enhanced if summoned by the effect of one of the yummy synchro monsters. Lollipo shuffles an opponent's card from the graveyard back into the deck upon a normal summon, but if summoned via a Synchro monster, it can banish the card instead! Flexibility defines the Yummy playstyle, and Lollipo excels at dismantling crucial graveyard effects and strategies that have become so prevalent in the game. Due to the limited number of Yummy names, Lollipo is an automatic three-of in any Yummy deck.
Next up for Dracotail is Dracotail Lukias! Lukias is the ideal Normal Summon, allowing you to add any other Dracotail monster to your hand, providing essential fodder for fusion summon plays. As a Level 4 Spellcaster-type monster, Lukias also serves as a bridge into Spirit with Eyes of Blue, further supporting Blue-Eyes strategies or simply providing a dragon monster to facilitate Spheres plays.
CupsyYummy is a standout in the Yummy archetype. Cupsy adds any other Yummy card (including spells!) to your hand upon being summoned. However, if summoned by a Synchro monster, it lets you draw a card instead! For seasoned players, the simple act of drawing a card holds immense value, making CupsyYummy a highly desirable asset.
YummySnatchy serves as the catalyst for massive swings in advantage, allowing you to place Field Spells directly from your deck onto the field while also facilitating quick effect Synchro Summons for a mere 100 Life Points! This card is a nightmare for opponents facing the Yummy deck, as its presence on the field signifies a potential turning point in the game.
Cooky Yummy proves to be a surprisingly powerful little friend. Upon being summoned, it can reduce a monster's attack points by 1000. While stat modifiers might not always be impactful, they are a boon in a deck that generally lacks high attack values. If summoned by a Synchro Monster, Cooky can destroy the targeted monster instead, making it even easier to end games quickly. Plus, it's a cookie! What's not to love?!
Dracotail Faimena stands out as one of the best support cards for fusion summon decks in general. By discarding Faimena, you can perform a fusion summon for anything as long as you have the necessary materials, and it's a quick effect! This opens up terrifying possibilities. El Shaddoll Winda can suddenly appear on your opponent's turn. Red-Eyes Dark Dragoon becomes even easier to summon. Furthermore, Faimena is also a Level 5 monster, creating synergy with the K9 cards for those powerful Rank 5 plays that the engine makes possible. The synergies are deep and rewarding the more you explore them!
The number one card, and also the best-selling card of the set, K9-17 Izuna currently commands the highest price tag at $45! K9-17 Izuna is the engine starter for the entire k9 strategy, making it an easily splashable addition to various decks. If your opponent activates a hand traps or grave effects during the turn, you can simply summon Izuna and send Lupis from your deck to the graveyard. Since Lupis only requires the opponent to have activated a hand or grave effect, it can then be special summoned, allowing for a quick effect xyz summon! Expect to see K9-17 Izuna and K9-00 Lupis appearing practically everywhere in the coming months. This pairing is a match made in heaven. Justice Hunters has so much potential! Cyber Dragons, Crystrons, K9, Vanquish Soul, Branded, and even random fusion synergies all receive significant boosts, making this quite possibly the best deck building set of all time!
